What are the Airport Innovation Days?

Groupe ADP provides an opportunity for start-ups working on transportation and aviation solutions to promote their products and services and meet potential investors. Each location will organise a one-day competition. The preselected start-ups get the chance to pitch their project and present their products and services before international experts.

Queen Alia Amman International Airport (QAIA) is Jordan's main international airport. It is operated by Airport International Group (AIG), in which Groupe ADP holds a 51% stake. It handles some 9 million passengers a year. QAIA is regularly ranked as the region's best airport in its size category by Airports Council International (ACI). Destinations served are mainly in the Middle East and Europe. QAIA is the hub of the national airline, Royal Jordanian.

Application process & selection


Only participants that have been shortlisted at the end of the finalists' selection phase can take part in the winners' selection phase (the final).

The jury will evaluate the finalists based on the following criteria:

Application process

Please complete the application form depending to the chosen location (Paris, Ankara or Amman).

  • Until September 15th at 12:00 pm (local time) for Ankara (Türkiye),
  • Until September 30th at 12:00 pm (local time) for Amman (Jordan),
  • Until November 4th at 12:00 pm (local time) for Paris (France).

You can add on the application form any other documents to help us understand your solution. The best participants will be selected for the selection phase.

The selection phase

  • From October 1st to October 17th, 2024, for Ankara (Türkiye),
  • From October 1st to October 21st , 2024, for Amman (Jordan),
  • From November 5th to November 26th, 2024, for Paris (France).

Applications will be evaluated during the selection phase by the selection jury. Participants will be contacted if their application has been selected to take part in the final ceremony.

Final ceremonies

  • Ankara (Türkiye): October 25th, 2024,
  • Amman (Jordan): November 6th, 2024,
  • Paris (France): December 4th, 2024.

Candidates will take part in one of three finals depending on their chosen location. Selected participants will pitch to a panel of experts in one of three categories chosen by the candidate (Green Airport, Passenger Experience, or Airport Operations). One prize-winner selected per category.

FAQ


Innovation Days will be organised at 3 different locations: Amman Airport – Ankara Airport – CDG Paris Airport. The selected participants will be invited to the event they applied for.

The winners of Innovation Days in Amman and Ankara will be invited to be present at the final in Paris.

Applicant accommodations are not covered by the organizing companies.

To participate in the Innovation Days, please fill in the application form for the location of your choice.

  1. Anyone over 18 years of age and part of a start-up can apply to the event.
  2. Anyone who is not a 1st degree relative of our employees and is not in a direct business partnership with our company can apply with no further prerequisite.

The juries will evaluate the proposed innovations according to the following criteria during the 2 phases of the Airport Innovation Days Challenge:

 

  • Organisation
  • Company profile.
  • References and Partnerships (verification of references, potential collaborations, projects developed).
  • Composition of the team/start-up (Experience and Qualifications).

 

  • Project Description
  • Quality of the project pitch.
  • Solution technology (incorporate the innovation aspects of the project).

 

  • Market
  • Project Implementation (effectiveness of the approach).
  • Economic viability of the project (analysis of the target market, potential demand, and short- and long-term growth opportunities).

 

  • Additional Elements
  • Project potential for the hosting airport (understanding of diversity challenges & relevance in line with the themes).
  • Communication and presentation (start-up’s strategic vision, assessment of communication quality and ability to present the product or service compellingly).

 

 

1st step: the selection jury will assess the relevance of the innovation solution via the application form submitted by the start-up.

2nd step: preselected start-ups will pitch their solutions in front of a jury of experts.

You will receive your award within 6 months of the final event in Paris on December 4th,2024.

Application to Airport Innovation Days is free.

Unfortunately, there is no online participation for the Airport Innovation Days. The competition will be held at a reserved hall and presented before the jury in each location.

Information on access to the airport and parking area will be sent to the participants.

We do not cover transportation and accommodation expenses for Airport Innovation Days participants

Nevertheless, Amman and Ankara winners will be awarded a trip to Paris, as part their invitation to attend the Paris final.

This trip to Paris includes return flights for 2 persons (for each company) between Amman/Ankara and Paris and one night in an airport hotel to attend the Paris final on December 4th.

Groupe ADP will cover expenses.
